Your yoni is an animal temperament, and you do not choose it: it comes from the nakshatra the Moon occupied when you were born. Twenty-seven nakshatras share fourteen animals between them, each animal usually holding one male nakshatra and one female, which is why two people can share a yoni and still differ.
Classical matching uses yoni to read the instinctive, physical layer of a partnership, the part that has little to do with values or conversation. It is one of the eight kutas of Ashtakoot, worth four points, and the seven enmity pairs below are where it deducts them.
Yoni is not BNN. Bhrigu Nandi Nadi reads a partnership through karakas, yutis and yatra timing, not through Ashtakoot points. Yoni is published here as classical reference. For the BNN view of a match, use BNN Match.

Deer yoni
| Sanskrit | Mriga |
|---|---|
| Natural enemy | Dog |
| Nakshatras | Anuradha, Jyeshtha |
Nature
Sensitive, graceful and easily startled.
Refined and alert. The deer yoni is the most sensitive of the fourteen, attuned to atmosphere and quick to retreat from harshness.
Temperament
Deer-yoni natives notice everything: tone, mood, the thing that was not said. This makes them gifted with people and with anything requiring taste, but it also means a raised voice costs them a whole day. They need beauty and calm to do their best work and wilt in aggressive environments. There is real strength there, but it is the strength of grace rather than force.
Strengths
- Highly attuned to people and atmosphere
- Natural aesthetic sense
- Gentle and genuinely considerate
- Moves fast when it needs to
Cautions
- Startles and retreats rather than engaging
- Takes bluntness as cruelty
- Anxious in competitive settings
- Avoids necessary conflict until it is too late
Pairing
Lovely with gentle yonis. Hardest with Dog, whose sudden noise and directness keep a deer permanently on edge.
