Module 1 ยท Lesson 5

Auspicious vs Inauspicious Name Numbers

Not all name numbers are equal โ€” understanding the spectrum from highly favourable to deeply challenging is the core skill of a Chaldean practitioner.

1 Not All Numbers Are Equal

In Chaldean numerology, numbers are neither uniformly good nor bad โ€” they exist on a spectrum of favourability. The same number that brings fortune to one person in one context may bring challenges in another. However, there are consistent patterns that centuries of observation have established.

The key distinction is between the compound number (which tells you about circumstances) and the root number (which tells you about core character). A name number of 17 (reduces to 8) is far more fortunate than a name number of 26 (also reduces to 8). The root number (8) is the same, but the compound number changes everything.

โœฆ The Three Categories

Highly Auspicious (Green): Numbers that consistently bring success, protection, and good fortune to the name carrier.
Neutral/Mixed (Yellow): Numbers with both positive and negative potential โ€” context and personal chart determine outcome.
Challenging (Red): Numbers that create repeated obstacles, health issues, financial strain, or relationship difficulties.

4 Dr. Mandeep's Personal Observations

After 15+ years of practice, certain numbers come up again and again in consultations. Here are the most commonly misunderstood ones:

โš ๏ธ Number 4 โ€” Misunderstood, Not Cursed

Number 4 is widely feared in South Asian cultures due to its association with Saturn/Rahu energy. However, in my practice, I find that 4 people who are disciplined and hardworking often achieve more than their peers โ€” just later and through greater effort. The real danger with 4 is laziness and cutting corners, not the number itself. A corrected name with 4 energy, used wisely, creates extraordinary builders.

โš ๏ธ Number 8 โ€” The Most Misunderstood

8 is Saturn's number โ€” the karmic balancer. People born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th often have a deep fear of this number. But 8 is not unlucky โ€” it is demanding. It punishes shortcuts and rewards genuine effort with extraordinary wealth and authority. The compound number matters enormously: 8 as 17 is magnificent; 8 as 26 is dangerous. Never judge 8 without knowing the compound.

โš ๏ธ Number 13 โ€” Not Universally Bad

Western superstition about 13 has bled into numerology consultations. In Chaldean, 13 is a karmic number about transformation, not death or disaster. I have seen many successful people with 13 in their chart โ€” they simply went through major upheavals that forced them to rebuild on better foundations. The key question is: are they willing to change?

โœฆ The Truth About "Lucky" Numbers

Many clients come to me asking for a name number of 1 or 5, believing these are universally lucky. The truth is more nuanced. The best name number for you is the one that harmonises with your birth date (destiny) number. A name number that clashes with your destiny number can actually create internal conflict โ€” even if the name number itself is "good."

5 Quiz โ€” Favourability & Name Numbers

Question 1 of 4
Two names both reduce to 8. Name A is compound number 17, Name B is compound number 26. Which is more favourable?
A Name A (17) โ€” it is called the Star of the Magi, one of the most fortunate numbers
B Name B (26) โ€” higher compound numbers are always more powerful
C They are identical because both reduce to 8
D Neither โ€” 8 is always inauspicious
โœ… Correct! 17 is "The Star of the Magi" โ€” among the most auspicious compound numbers. 26 is "The Warnings of Ruin." Same root number, completely different fortune.
Question 2 of 4
According to Dr. Mandeep, what is the real issue with number 4 in a name?
A It is always unlucky and should be completely avoided
B It demands discipline โ€” the danger is laziness and cutting corners, not the number itself
C It causes health problems specifically
D It only works for people born in April
โœ… Correct! Dr. Mandeep's observation is that 4 people who are disciplined often achieve more than their peers โ€” just later and through greater effort. It rewards persistence, not shortcuts.
Question 3 of 4
Which compound number is known as the most fortunate of all in Chaldean Numerology?
A 11
B 33
C 17
D 21
โœ… Correct! 17 โ€” "The Star of the Magi" โ€” is widely considered the most auspicious compound number in Chaldean Numerology. It promises success and immortality of name.
Question 4 of 4
When selecting the "best" name number for a client, what does Dr. Mandeep consider most important?
A Always choose number 1 or 5 as they are universally lucky
B The name number should harmonise with the client's birth date (destiny) number
C Choose the highest compound number possible
D The client's favourite number should always be used
โœ… Correct! Harmony between the name number and destiny (birth date) number is crucial. A "good" name number that clashes with the destiny number creates internal conflict.
